Hi all

I feel every morning like I have broken my right wrist. It is where my thumb joins. I think I sleep with that hand holding the duvet or something.

The left one went so wrong so long ago now I have forgotten if it felt the same but instead have a clump of large marbles under the skin where the wrist used to be. (Now THATS attractive!RollEyes )

I have never really got on with splints (bedroom drawer full of them!)

At least the neck seems a little easier. lol. off to the knackers yard next I think!BigGrin

Morning Jenni - sorry to hear you have yet another thing to make life tricky for you. I hate the splints as well but have to wear them at night (V attractive!). May be putting a soft bandage on it will stop you grabbing the duvet? Hope you are ready for Christmas. Is Bernice excited?

Sorry you have yet another problem to contend with, Jenni, but I am sure the wrist marbles are VERY prettySad

Poor old Lylie DID fall yesterday and spent some time up at A & E. She's torn the ligaments in her knee, sprained her ankle and wrecked her already bad right elbow and hip. So, lots of fun for all!

Much love

Sorry you 've got yet another problem Jenni!
Julie's suggestion might work, to put a bandage on at night.

And poor Lylie!
I daren't set foot out of the house, we've got about a foot of snow now!

Hope your wrist settles down Jenni.
Love, Doreen xx

Jenni, you've got a long way to go before you reach the knackers yard!

This thing with your wrist sounds awful, I'm thinking it needs to be checked out?

Take Care,

Love,

Barbara

Jenni,

Sorry to hear of yet more pain and grief for you. The pain you describe sounds like the discomfort I was feeling which led to my trapesiotomy operation. Hope it isn't but for most people, it is a one day op though a cast is put on for 4 weeks after the op.

Oh poor Lylie! Thats just about all she needs! Hope to goodness that she has good pain killers . Sending lots of love and best wishes.

Dear Jenni,

It just goes on doesn't it? One bit today, another tomorrow! I can't get on with splints either. Get little enough sleep without being aware of them. Did try them for years but then realised that they make little or no difference. Back to the old pain killers and a rub!

I get the same feeling Jenny... wake up and my wrist feels broken.... its definitely not a nice feeling. I get the pain where my thumb starts but also on the other side of the wrist, a nobbly bit where the wrist moves up and down...

I've been told its to do with the tendons getting too tight so I try and do gently stretches (moving wrist up and down and stretching the thumb to the side) and when its so bad I can't move it I put it in a rest splint that I got from lloyds chemist (not the ones from the hospital that have those uncomfortable metal bars) The rest splint is a stretchy fabric and is breathable so sweaty palms Blushing

Well I have been a brave soul today and left some messages with the rheumatology nurses again as I just cant get anywhere with any of the consultants appt system.

this morning I was actually biting the joint at the base of my thumb when I woke up- silly billy - but obviously it was hurting so I bit itBlink lol nutty woman I am!!!

i still need to go in really, this is the issue. there are no beds. but someone could at least ring up and TELL me that!

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

never mind- on with the pain relief and must get something to stop the prickly poos!!! (charming!RollEyes )

Thinking of you Jenni and hoping you can get something sorted with the hospital after the seasonal madness is over. Hope you have a great day.

Hi Jenni

Sorry to hear about your wrist, maybe you should go to A&E if you can't get any joy from the docs.

Poor Lylie, she's not having much luck at the moment. A friend of mine has just had an op for a brain tumour, she went and fell over and broke her arm. That's why I don't like going out in snowy or frosty weather.

Dear Jenni, I'm really sorry your wrists are so bad.
I had to wear blasted wrist splints day and night for years, before two Carpel tunnel operations!
Thank God I had the surgeries because the relief of not wearing the beastly uncomfortable
splints changed my life.
I am thinking of you and praying that a bed comes free for you soon and they sort
out this wrist pain.
Much love,
FionaHuh

Jenni

sorry to read about your wrists the RA is chronic in both my wrists too and I dont seem to have been pain free in months as either one or both hurt. Even when it eases for me just cant hold the mobile phone to my ear or hold anything in my hands as it takes nothing to start them off. To me it feels like a really bad sprain and understand that they can be so painful it does feel like they are broken. It can be so depressing as its so limiting what one can do. So I hope it eases for you. I have been using splints but it doesnt seem to help anymore. So heres hoping it settles down soon.

take care

Mari
